My scope is to get deeper into understanding digital cameras, and share the information with the fellow photographers.

From compact cameras to DSLRs and mirrorless system cameras, there are thousands of products we can discuss, know each other better, and find out which one is best for each of you.

Compact cameras

Compact cameras can be found in a large volume, serving photographers from hobbyists to professionals. The size does not always matter, as you'll see.

There are very cheap compact cameras which perform at a mediocre level, serving those people who are not interested in super image quality, but in the information contained in the picture,

And, there are compact cameras for professional level. They are not cheap, but the image quality results are comparable with DSLRs. 

DSLR Cameras

DSLR means digital single lens reflex.

They are heavier and bigger that the compact ones, and even the cheapest DSLR camera is better performing than the most compact ones (excluding some expensive ones with big sensors and great image quality).

Mirrorless Cameras

They are the newer models, last release ones. They are similar to DSLRs, but they don't use a mirror - from where the name "mirrorless"

Being without a mirror, their system becomes less space consuming. As so as they are much smaller, more compact than the DSLR. This is a big advantage, as a photographer has to carry lots of gear (cameras, tripods, flashes, cleaning kits, filters, etc...) and every volume in the backpack matters.

Conclusion

Now that we have a better understanding about the most common type of digital cameras there days, let's choose one. No necessary for buying, but for talking about.

Which type of photographer are you?

Do you like to party, shot portraits and shoot the events like family and friends birthdays? 

Than a compact camera will do it.

If you want to shoot wildlife and sports, than a DSRL or Mirrorless with a telephoto lens will serve you much better.
